Sing Hallelujah! Comes to Harwich

Inspired by Gareth Malone’s success on TV with The Choir, Dovercourt Choral Society will take up BBC’s challenge to Sing Hallelujah! at its next concert on Saturday 21 November at 7.30 p.m. at St Nicholas’ Church Harwich. So, if you fancy joining in Handel’s marvellous chorus or would just like to listen and bask in this glorious music, this is a concert not to be missed!

The rest of the programme will be celebration of Mozart’s music and the Choral Society will be joined by soloists Gil Wilson (soprano), Janet Bullard (alto) and Dennis Bowen (bass) as well as the Colchester Bach Orchestra with conductor, Patrick McCarthy, to sing the beautiful Coronation Mass and the Vespers. The Choral Society is lucky enough to have concert pianist, Philip Elwell, as accompanist at its rehearsals and he will be stepping out from his usual role to perform Mozart’s beautiful Piano Concert No 9.

“It will be a joyous feast of music,” said Chairman Marian Heath, “and we are delighted to be able to bring this Mozart Celebration to our local community.”

Tickets: £10 (£3 full-time education) at the door or from Card Corner, 244 High Street, Homecraft, 56 Kingsway or call Sue Payne on 01255506797.

New members are always welcome, no auditions are necessary but some musical knowledge and the ability to sing in tune would be advantageous !
